Why use a teething necklace?

Amber teething necklaces are traditionally used throughout Europe and are thought to have a powerful yet natural pain relieving effect on the wearer - Baltic Amber is a fossil resin produced by pine trees, which grow in Northern Europe.

Research suggests that when worn around a baby's neck whilst teething, the warmth from the skin releases the active ingredient in the Amber, called succinic acid. This helps improve immunity, reduce drooling and soothe red cheeks. Amber has an anti-inflammatory property and is said to help relieve teething pain and calm a baby without the use of drugs.

FAQ

Length: 11.5-12.5 inches long (or 31-32cm long) ONE SIZE FITS MOST. Each stone measures approx 2-5mm each.

Safety: For extra safety, the silk thread is knotted after each bead, so that in the unlikely event of the necklace breaking, no beads are lost and there is no risk of choking. All necklaces are secured with a screw clasp, not a hook and ring.

As with any piece of jewellery or item given to a baby, caution should always be taken and baby should not be left unattended. Some mothers like to place the necklace around babys ankle while sleeping rather than having around the neck - the anklet can then also be covered by socks or sleepsuit for extra safety.

The Origin of Amber Teething necklaces: Each necklace sold at Flobib is handcrafted in Eastern Europe, where the tradition of wearing these necklaces is centuries old. The Amber used is called Baltic Amber and is said to have powerful pain relieving properties. Baltic Amber has a high succinic acid content which is where the natural pain relief comes from when in contact with the skin.

Wearing the necklace: Your baby will hardly know they are wearing the necklace as the stones are naturally warm, soft, and light. Each stone is smooth and should not irritate babys skin in any way. The earlier a baby is introduced to wearing an amber teething necklace the sooner he or she will get used to wearing it. The necklace can be worn from birth onwards.
